Bronnadh an gradam TechSpacer ESB na bliana 2020 ar Adam Ó Cuinneagáin, déagóir ó Ghaillimh

Níl i gcluiche réaltachta fíorúla a dhearadh agus club TechSpace a stiúradh um am lóin ina scoil ach tús na n-éachtaí cruthaitheacha a rinne Adam, déagóir ó Bhaile Átha an Rí i nGaillimh. Bhronn ESB, mar chuid dá chiste Fuinneamh do na glúine ríomhaire ar Adam an tseachtain seo chun a scileanna códúcháin a fhorbairt.

Is clár oideachais náisiúnta é TechSpace a chuireann oiliúint ar mhúinteoirí agus ar cheannairí óige chun cabhrú le daoine óga a bheith cruthaitheach le húsáid na teicneolaíochta.

Tháinig fás agus forbairt ar Adam leis an gclár TechSpace Gaeilge a fhaigheann tacaíocht ón Roinn Cultúir, Oidhreachta agus Gaeltachta ó cuireadh tús leis in 2016, agus tá an bhaint atá aige lena chlub ríomhaireachta áitiúil i gcroílár a rathúlachta. Cuireadh oiliúint ar a mhúinteoir, Bairbre, mar chuid den chlár TechSpace in 2016 ó Choláiste an Eachréidh i mBaile Átha an Rí. Ní ba dhéanaí an bhliain sin bhuaigh Adam gradam as cluiche a d’fhorbair sé don Tech Féile bliantúil i nGaillimh, féile a bheidh ar siúl arís i mbliana an 4 Márta in Aerfort na Sionainne.

Chuaigh Adam i gcion arís eile ar na moltóirí ag an Creative Tech Fest in 2019 i mBaile Átha Cliath. D’fhorbair sé cluiche Réaltachta Fíorúla bunaithe ar bhabhláil. Dúirt na moltóirí go raibh caighdeán agus leibhéal an eolais agus na scileanna eolaíochta ríomhaireachta a bhí ag Adam i bhfad Éireann ní b’fhearr ná aon duine eile ar fud Líonra TechSpace. Tá bliain iontach roimh Adam mar ESB TechSpacer na Bliana, lena n-áirítear tacaíocht dó leanúint lena gcruthúcháin eolaíochta ríomhaireachta a fhorbairt, inspioráid trí chomhpháirtithe tionscail agus deiseanna dá Chlub Ríomhaireachta TechSpace am lóin chun a gcuid smaointe a fhorbairt. Tá Foireann an Chláir TechSpace agus ESB ag súil le heachtraíocht iontach a chur ar fáil dó in 2020.

Tá ESB ag obair i gcomhpháirtíocht le TechSpace chun teacht a thabhairt do dhaoine óga ar spás inar féidir leo dul i mbun na cruthaitheachta, a chumadóireachta agus an inspreagtha le húsáid STEAM agus na Cruthaitheachta Digití. Sheol ESB Generation Tomorrow, clár nua STEAM (Eolaíocht, Teicneolaíocht, Innealtóireacht, Ealaíon agus Matamaitic) atá meáite ar dhaoine óga a chumhachtú chun a lánchumas a bhaint amach agus a gcomhthodhchaí a chumhachtú.

Galway Teen Adam Ó Cuinneagáin has been awarded ESB TechSpacer of the year 2020.

A virtual reality game and leading a lunchtime TechSpace club at his school are only the beginnings of the creative achievements for teen Adam from Athenry in Galway. This week Adam was presented with a laptop to further develop his coding skills – by ESB as part of ESB’s energy for generations fund.

TechSpace is a national educational programme that provides training for teachers and youth leaders to facilitate young people to be creative using technology.

Adam has grown with the Irish language TechSpace programme aupported by an Roinn Cúltúir, Oidechais agus an Gaeltacht since it began in 2016, and his involvement in his local computer club is key to its success. His teacher, Bairbre, was trained as part of the Clár TechSpace programme from Cóláiste an Eachréidh in Athenry. Last year Adam won an award for a game he had developed at the annual Tech Féile in Galway, happening again this year on March 4th in Shannon Airport.

Adam once again impressed judges at the 2019’s ESB Creative Tech Fest in Dublin. He developed a virtual reality game based on bowling. The judges went on to say that the standard and the level of computer science skills and knowledge from Adam was beyond anything throughout the national TechSpace Network. Adam has an exciting year ahead of him as ESB TechSpacer of the Year’s award includes support for him to continue developing his computer science creations, inspiration through industry partners and opportunities for his lunch time TechSpace Computer Club to develop their ideas. The TechSpace Team and ESB are looking forward to making it a successful adventure for him in 2020.

ESB is partnering with TechSpace to give young people access to a space where they can create, invent and inspire through STEAM and Digital Creativity. ESB has launched Generation Tomorrow, a new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) programme dedicated to empowering young people to reach their potential and power their collective brighter future.
