Ceiliúradh GAISCE Nollaig ’17

Twice annually, Nollaig & Samhradh, student achievement is acknowledged in three categories:- in classwork  OBAIR RANGA, in the area of leadership CEANNAIREACHT and in recognition of their efforts and use of GAEILGE.

Arís i mbliana bhí ócáid bhreá againn sa Choláiste ar lá laethanta saoire na Nollag. Bronnadh gradaim ar na daltaí ag tabhairt aitheantais dá gcuid iarrachtaí le linn an téarma. Bronntar teastais sna catagóir seo:- Ceannaireacht, Gaeilge, Tinreamh agus Obair Ranga. Anuas ar sin bhí ceol den scoth faoi stiúr Mhúinteoir Úna, caint ar shiamsaíocht idir cheol agus amhránaíocht – b’iad Caroline, Bliain 2, agus Eileen, Idirbhliain, a bhuaigh na duaiseanna ceoil.

Bhronn Rang na hArdteiste bláthanna ar mhúinteoir Seán agus Gearóidín as ucht a gcuid iarrachtaí le cúrsaí eitpheile thar na blianta.

100% Tinreamh – nearly 1/3 of all pupils attended school EVERY day since term began on the 28th August, well done!! MUSIC – again this year our students entertained us with their wonderful music, much of which was composed by themselves. Thanks to Múinteoir Úna for coordinating the show. Poetry Ireland

Indeed it was a privilege to accompany 8 of our pupils to Poetry Ireland’s offices in Dublin. They, and pupils from one other school, were greeted by the former Irish-American ambassador Anne Anderson and had the opportunity to recite their poems at a wonderful event sponsored by Poetry Ireland.

To their delight, the pupils were presented with a bound copy of their very own published works by the former Ambassador, who had commissioned the work through the Oileán Programme. More about their poems, based on the theme of immigration and the diaspora will follow in a later post. For now, we are very proud of their achievements, thar a bheith bródúil ar fad!
